Global Warming: Fact or Fiction
Based on our class discussion and the articles I read I don't believe global warming is a man made occurence. I do think that the Earth could possibly be warming up but not necessarily due to humans. From reading the article titled "U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007" (http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=f80a6386-802a-23ad-40c8-3c63dc2d02cb) I now think that if the Earth is warming it's in fact because of natural causes. In the article, one scientist said that the sun is what gives the atmosphere energy to move which therefore controls climate and weather. So any changes in the amount of energy given off by the sun would then change the climate. That's just one example of a natural thing controlling climate. Another scientist from that same article said that water vapor is the main green house gas making up 75% of all greenhouse gases. So even if humans are emitting more CO2 than before it won't really affect the overall much anyway because it isn't even the main gas. So this statement from the scientist shoots down the basis of humans causing global warming stated in a different article titled "Science Panel Calls Global Warming ‘Unequivocal’" (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/03/science/earth/03climate.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2) which mislead people to think that CO2 is the main greenhouse gas when it isn't even close. So I guess my position on global warming is that it is a natural occurence that is too large of a thing to be changed by humans. I also agree with Mr. Voight's point during our class discussion on how it's nice to create new technologies that save energy and resources but people shouldn't use global warming as an excuse to push the research.

Why don't you think that it's bad that people are using Global Warming as an excuse to push the new technology?
2 things
- I agree with Anita
- You say that you don't believe in global warming but you give us two refrences to anti global warming websites. I think that you should look at both sides of the issues
I agree that global warming is a natural thing, but i think you need to have more info on both sides of the story.
I see your point. I agree with the hype you mentioned on global warming and how the media is trying to use it to push the environment. But, i also agree with joe and anita that its not necessarily a bad thing
For Anita. I did say it was bad. I stated that I agree with Mr. Voight and that people shouldn't use global warming as an excuse to use and develop new things.
For Joe. The second reference says that global warming is occuring.
