The coolest chemical reaction I think is fire. Everyone knows what fire is but no one really understands what takes place to create it. I found this really helpful site that told me how it all works. See when fire is produce it's because of a chemical reaction between gas and air. In my example I'll have lighter fluid as my gas. Now lighter fluid is normally composed of CH4 (one Carbon and four Hydrogen). The air it reacts with is made out of 2O2 (four Oxygen). By themselves they don't do anything but when energy is added (the spark created from the lighter) the molecules break up and release energy and then recombine in a less use of energy state. This process would look like this.
CH4+2O2--->CO2+2H2O.
As you can see there are the same number of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen atoms in the end as there was in the beginning. So no mass was lost or gained which is how it should be.
This is my favorite chemical reaction because I like playing with fire and I enjoy watching fire works and other kinds of explosions. Without this chemical reaction life would be totally different because without man discovering fire we wouldn't have been able to stay warm which would probably mean we wouldn't evolve to being furless and everyone would be really hairy. Also we use fire to heat up metals and stuff so we can produce steel and other hard substances used for building. Not to mention that fire is basically just a controlled explosion so without the fire there wouldn't be guns and bombs and stuff and warfare would be totally diffferent (probably actually better without all the bombs but fire is still cool). So fire is really a helpful chemical reaction in the world of man and without it life would suck.

Hey Yunus, dude I was thinking about doing fire as mine but I really wanted to find a chemical eqaution. I ended up going to the site that you did. Your example about making metals was ver nice. Good Job.
While using fire IS a bit cliche... you executed it will...

I agree with you that life would suck without fire. We would all be cold and cranky but we might have been able to find a new way to produce heat.
Like most boys my age i am a pyro, I love fire and i think you make an excellent point on why fire is so cool. I also didn't know how it was made besides striking a match. Thanks for teaching me
Fire is amazing! Fire is not the only source of heat though. It seems like everyone is saying the only way to stay warm is by fire. Did you ever think of combustion as part of an engine though? Cars and airplanes are a huge part of our society. Also we could not explore space at the level we have done without combustion. Overall, you made some good points and did a good job.
Good post, and an interesting one too. I like fire in nearly any form, from regular fire to fireworks to rocket exhaust. Fire is cool (actually hot) and I am glad it was discovered.
